A Chorus Line
Stamford Showstoppers are back with their next show the fabulous musical A Chorus Line. This show celebrates their 5th year and is a special double bill with the Youth Group taking on Matilda Jr in the afternoons. Straight from their successful 2024 productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the youth production of Frozen Jr they can’t wait to take to the stage again with these amazing shows.
“A Chorus Line” is the quintessential backstage musical, a celebration of the lives and hard times of the gypsy dancers who turn up by the hundreds to audition for a handful of jobs on Broadway.
A Chorus Line examines one day in the lives of seventeen dancers, all vying for a spot in the “chorus line” of a Broadway musical. After the first round of cuts, Zach, the director and choreographer, asks each dancer to speak about themselves. Discomfort opens into revelation, confession leads to redemption, and within the bright, outwardly homogenous chorus, the audience begins to see each dancer’s individuality. From Cassie, the star who just needs the “music and the mirror and the chance to dance,” to Val, a small-town girl with a brand-new big-town body, to Mikki, who took her sister’s place in dance class, saying “I can do that.” Based on real Broadway dancers’ stories, as told to fellow dancer and choreographer Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line is funny, heartbreaking, and refreshingly honest.
So get your tickets, grab your seats and hang on for this dance extravaganza, featuring songs like “One” Singular Sensation and the pop ballad “What I did for love”
Please be aware some songs contain themes of an adult nature although there is no age limit placed on the show.
